When There Is Nothing Left, There Is Always Hope.

Image from: www.raisinggenerationstoday.com
It has been almost three weeks since Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan ravaged Central Philippines.

Ravage is the closest word. Destroyed doesn't even cut it. The damage wrought by the Super Typhoon is truly unimaginable - and it is! Its strength was unseen by people who had lived for the past few decades - all over the world.

Three weeks since, it has been discovered that thousands have been killed by it, and every day turns up with more. There is a lack of food, water, shelter - all the basic needs of man - lacking in so many ways.

But if there is one thing that is always abundant in the Filipino heart, that is HOPE.

I Was A Call Center Girl - And I'm Proud of It!

I've been wanting to do a blog post about this for so long, pero laging napo-postpone kasi ang dami kong gustong sabihin, pero yung kamay ko ayaw na mag-type. So when I was taking a break from work earlier, browse browse ako ng forums and shared stuff on my newsfeed. Naalala ko yung isang blog post about the call center industry being belittled - and naalala ko na naman din ang feelings ko towards this.

Sa totoo lang, I take offense when people always attach the word 'LANG' sa call center industry or sa call center agents.  As in emosyonal talaga ako pag nakakarinig or nakakabasa ako ng not-so-nice comments about the work I used to do, or the industry that I used to be part of.

How to Survive As An Online Freelancer

It's been more than three years since I decided to leave the corporate world in exchange for a life (and work) at home. Did I make the right choice? Was I successful in the path I chose? I think I'd have to say yes on both counts - I'm still here, still surviving. That to me means I must be doing some things right. :)

A lot of people think working as an online freelancer is a bed of roses - you command your own rates, your own working hours, you can work in your pajamas, and you can work while watching TV. While all that is true, it doesn't have to translate to all these being 'easy'. In fact, I'd have to say being an online freelancer is a tad more difficult than being in the solid and structured corporate world.  But I've dwelt on that before in this post about why WAHMs get stressed.

I Have A Confession to Make: I Went Shopping!

Hand me a hanky to wipe my tears, I just wanted to share that last weekend...I went shopping! Ay oo, kakaibang ligaya mga atey, kakaiba talaga. I don't remember the last time I really 'shopped' - as in yung may mga binili ako for myself at hindi lang naggrocery, or bumili ng gamit ni bagets or ni hubs. Akin talaga, akin... (Oh I still feel dreamy...)

I know some of you out there might think "Ang OA naman nito, nagshopping lang ang saya saya na." E kung ikaw ba naman once-in-a-blue moon mag-shopping di ka matuwa?

Everytime we go to the mall, I always have our household budget in mind - it's like an automated Excel file that pops up in my brain with images telling me the 'needs' and that there is no excess budget for my wants. But, guess what, I can always squeeze in some wants for my daughter and sometimes the hubby too. The premise? Well I find everything cute for my daughter, and that since it's hubby who goes out to work, he needs better clothes and shoes. And, that I can live (and work-from-home) with my old shirts and even older shorts. Hehe.

A Cupcake Date at Larcy's Cupcakery Cafe

Last weekend, a friend of ours (let's call her N) brought us to this cupcake place in BF Paranaque called Larcy's Cupcakery Cafe. I've seen it being raved about on Instagram and Facebook, but since its location was quite a drive away, we never got around to going there. And well, I just don't have a sweet tooth so we weren't like super-mega-di-mapakali kind of excited to try it out.

Thankful Mornings and MyFitnessPal

I remember making a promise about blogging more and exercising - (almost forgot the exercising part. Hehe.), so here I am.

Hindi ko pa kaya tumalon ng ganyan. Hehe.

I just finished doing 10 minutes of at-home Zumba, and it feels so great to get my body moving!  I live such a sedentary life, I feel like chairs are attached to my bum already. And it's not enough to justify it with "I do desk work", it doesn't mean I can't stand up and stretch right? So today, I made sure I get to working on that body makeover resolution thingy.
